Downloading the Moodle app to your Android phone or tablet

As you will most likely be using your smartphone or tablet to take pictures of your work as evidence, there is an advantage to downloading the Moodle app directly onto your device. From it, you can easily upload images from your photo library to your ePortfolio or download content at UCOL to read later on at home in order to save your data. To download the Moodle app to your device, do the following:

  1. Open up Google Play on your phone/tablet and type Moodle into the search field.
  2. The Moodle app should display on the Google Play screen.
  3. Click the INSTALL icon and wait for the Moodle app to download and install on your device. When it has finished this, you should see the Moodle app icon on your phone or tablet.
  4. Open up the Moodle app. After it has opened, you will be asked to connect to the Moodle site. Type in moodle.ucol.ac.nz and click Connect.
  5. A small window will display asking you to log in to Moodle from the browser on your device. Click OK. This is the Moodle app making sure that you have a genuine Moodle account. Click Sign in once you have entered your UCOL UserID and password.
  6. At this point you may be asked if you want to open up Moodle in the Moodle app. Select Yes, if you are asked.
  7. The Moodle app opens and should display any courses you are registered for and have access to.
  8. Congratulations, you can now start using the Moodle app on your phone/tablet.
